Timing is everything

Well today, we had a support group meeting at Tim's doc's place that I have been waiting for
for months. The new doctor, another top MM doc and a good friend of Tim's regular doc that
he finally convinced to come work here, was having a 90 minute "pick his brain" session where we
could ask him whatever we wanted to know about the latest in MM and treatments. Since Tim
has been stable and handled by a nurse practitioner instead of his doc, I have had some pretty
involved questions to ask for a long time and was so looking forward to asking them. Then at 4:30 am, in the middle of a dream, Olivia wakes me up and says, "My tummy hurts." Thinking this may just be
a little gas and maybe the "green apple two-step", I go in the lieu with her and she starts purging
her GI system from the north and the south. OH DANG!!! Now I am thinking of the meeting I
have waited soooooo long for and hoping that maybe it was from going out for ice cream with Tim
right before bed, but Liv eats ice cream a lot and is the type that can even mix foods and eat
pickles shortly after eating cookies and such. She doesn't get sick from that sort of thing. Nope, it's the stomach virus. She continues in this
fashion for the next 9 hours straight. My daughter is a skinny little thing who eats like a bird. I don't know where all this stuff was coming from. Honestly, I think she got rid of meals she hasn't
even eaten yet. I felt so bad. She was miserable. Luckily, she has not had the pukey virus in a long time but of all days, it had to be TODAY. We both had full schedules today and it mostly went
out the window. We had a softball game tonight too and our co-coach is having a hard time getting
to games on time due to his commute. Tim ran to the field exhausted after a long day at work and
got the chalk lines done while I stayed home and packed my stuff. Then I ran there to coach the game(field is just blocks away) and
he ran home to take care of Liv who was in pretty good shape when I left. We won the game and
when I got home, Liv looked and felt terrible. I feel her and she is burning up with fever. GREAT.
This always happens when I leave her home sick with Tim too. He tries to stay away from her so he doesn't catch it and
he kept checking on her but never touched her and I'm not sure he'd be able to tell if he did anyway. So I had to run to the store as we were out of the children's fever meds. I'd hardly eaten much all day and it was 8 pm now. I was starving
and in the mood for a Philly cheesesteak sandwich till I remembered that I'd been taking care
of a pukey kid all day and those stomach bugs are wicked contagious. A cheesesteak with peppers and onions is NOT something I want to see in an encore performance. Stuck with a can
of chicken soup for dinner. So I recall a few weeks ago making a comment that I was just a stomach virus or two away from my goal weight and I am hoping the GI gods know that I was KIDDING!!! I'd rather put up with my junk in the trunk than hurl for 9 hours, thank you.

Great story.... My oncologist told me I can watch my grand daughters when they are sick. He calls them "family germs" He said by the time you know they have it they have already given it to you anyway. I just wash my hands, a lot! I hope you can avoid this, but you are the mom, it is in your job description.

I really feel for you Denise. Hopefully you will escape the dreaded bug. Why is it always Mom who has to deal with it. There was one occasion when 3 of the kids and ME were blessed with a stomach bug. My now ex-husband just lay in bed, while I slept on the floor in the sick room.

Wow I hope you all are feeling OK now. While getting to purge to dump a few pounds is very effective, its never fun! And it is so scary when a little skinny kid gets that sick since there's nothing to help how awful they feel!

I think I have good energy today, feeling good, and am certainly going to enjoy it. MM teaches us to never take these kinds of days for granted! for sure!

Hope you don't catch it. My virus certainly wasn't worth having I only lost 2 lbs!

I probably shouldn't have had chicken fajitas for dinner last night but so far, so good. I think if I don't get it by today, I'm in the clear. I've used more antibacterial wipes and washed my hands with antibacterial soap SO many times, my skin is like an alligator but this seems to work with these stomach bugs. It looks
like Tim and I may avoid this after all. Phew!!!
