In the early 1600's, American indians helped the pilgrims that immigrated to New England. They taught
them to live in their new land. They had been starving and dying out before this help. They fed them, showed them how to cultivate corn because their wheat wouldn't grow in the soil. They helped them build decent houses. Eventually, the white man ran them off their lands and killed them by the thousands. Not much of a thank you, was it. 400 years later, we now help
a different kind of indian. We out-source millions of jobs to India so we can have record high unemployment
rates and tons of college educated kids who are computer wizards but cannot land jobs. I dunno, none of this makes any damn sense to me at all.
BUT Thanksgiving is a time when we remember when people looked out for each other, despite their
differences. They did what was the right thing to do. We humble ourselves and know that "no man is an island." We are all connected and we need other people to survive. We realize that even those of us who
are having hard times in our lives, can find something to be grateful for. Today, I am grateful for our family and that Tim is doing well.
Tim and Liv and I are so strong together. Tim's business is doing so well, he's turning down work. We just booked a trip to Disneyworld with almost everyone on my side of the family going. We're psyched. Some really good stuff is going on and the rough seas we've weathered lately has shown me, once again, how suited Tim and I are for each other. We have the same opinions and goals and that goes a long way toward making a marriage work. We just fit, us two. Like peas and carrots. Anyhoo, hope y'all have
a great holiday. Here's to picking out the positives and runnin' with 'em.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING, DENISE! YOU HAVE BEEN THROUGH SO MUCH LATELY. BUT THIS HOLIDAY IS ONE I HOPE WILL BE JOYFUL AND ALLOW YOU, TIM, AND LIV TO REALLY CELEBRATE.
I APPLAUD YOUR TRIBUTE TO NATIVE AMERICANS AND FEEL IT IS VERY FITTING TO REMEMBER NOT ONLY WHAT THEY DID FOR THE PILGRIMS, BUT TO ALSO RECOGNIZE THE COLLECTIVE SHAME OF OUR COUNTRY'S TREATMENT OF THEM. WE CAN ALL LEARN FROM PAST HISTORY HOW BEING "DIFFERENT" HAS OFTEN LEAD TO NOTHING LESS THAN ANNIHILATION. HERE'S IS A PLEDGE, WRITTEN BY DIANNE AKERMAN, THE POET AND WRITER, THAT I TRY TO LIVE BY:
" I SWEAR I WILL NOT DISHONOR MY SOUL WITH HATRED
BUT WILL OFFER MYSELF HUMBLY
AS A GUARDIAN OF NATURE
AS A HEALER OF MISERY
AS A MESSENGER OF WONDER
AS AN ARCHITECT OF PEACE
PEACE BE TO YOU AND THOSE WHOM YOU LOVE. WARM HUGS, KAREN
I hope you had a great day. It is fantastic that Tim is doing so well.
So envious of your trip to Disney. ;-)
